Past Life Memories – How they are accessed and can anyone do
it?
Some of the most common questions my clients ask about being
able to access Past Life Memories are “what if I do it
wrong?" or “what if I can’t switch off my mind”. Most people
want to know if they will be able to access these memories
easily enough and remember them afterwards.
In my experience only a small number of clients fail to
access Past Life Memories. In this article I will try and
explain why this is and the reasons I have found when people
have a resistance during their experience.
Fear
This is one of the main reasons that affect some people. To
start with, a client is nervous about the session, they have
not met me before and they have not been into my therapy
space, so this can add a level of anxiety and stress.
Furthermore, consciously or unconsciously clients have
underlying emotional fears that they may or may not be aware
of. These fears will sometimes stop the memories from
surfacing. This is an understandable aspect as in most cases
they are worried what will be uncovered or what they will
see/sense/feel? There is an underlying fear of discovering
parts of their past they may not like.
Expectations
I always ask my clients ‘Why do you want to have a Past Life
Regression session?’ This is where their level of
expectation is shown. Some people say ‘for the experience’,
others say ‘I want to know who I was’. Also, most clients
have the expectation that going into Past Life memories is
like stepping into a movie, where everything is totally
vivid and they will be part of the action. However, in most
cases people do not experience their Past Life memories like
this. Most will have a sense of what is happening, some
people see images or have a feeling for where they might be.
It is about using the senses to understand and trust their
feelings and intuition about the information they may be
receiving/viewing.
If someone's primary sense is visual, then they will see
everything they are experiencing, this makes it an easy
process. However, only around 50% of the population are
visual. The other 50% of the population may have a sense or
feeling of something happening, perhaps accompanied by a
hazy picture. So, it really can be about trusting your
intuition and once you really start to listen to that
instinct then your Past Life (s) story starts to unfold....
The Busy Conscious Mind
Can our mind ever be still and quiet? No! Our conscious mind
is always busy trying to find answers to the unknown. Even
using hypnosis to allow the client to get into a relaxed
state, the mind is always aware of what is happening.
However, during Regression, it ‘sits in the background’ but
can still be active. So, there are times the conscious mind
may make the client think “have I made this up?” or “Is this
really real what I have just experienced?”
What makes the Past Life Memories real?
It is the feelings and emotions associated with the Past
Life memory that make it real. You would have to ask
yourself, why would your imagination make up this particular
life & events? A lot of clients have emotional reactions to
the experience, which can be a life changing experience.
This cannot be easy ignored or disregarded as ‘made up’.
A way of healing
Sometimes there are issues in a person’s life that have been
suppressed, for example, a childhood trauma. In these cases,
the client may find it difficult to go into Past Life
Memories; therefore this issue would need to be looked at
and healed before the session.
During Past Life Memories clients often see and experience
repeating patterns from many Past Lives right up to their
current life. This can be an amazing experience. The healing
takes place on a cellular level and can involve a release of
powerful emotions. The imagination could not create this
spontaneous release.
Every client I see is an amazing lesson for me especially
when I see someone overcome some of the obstacles hindering
them. It is wonderful to see that even those that ‘think’
they can’t do it go on to have this amazing journey of
learning. So, whether it is ‘curiosity’ or ‘karma’ that
makes you want to experience your Past lives then don’t let
your mind tell you otherwise.
